Gastronomy

The South West of France (Pays Basque, Béarn, Landes)  is the temple of French gastronomy. You will love discovering typical restaurants or ramble the local marchés and haunt precious products from the small farms around, such as the famous Garbure soup, Piperade sauce, Pastis Landais, the Gateau Basque, and the fantastic goat cheese.
We will give you our tips for the best restaurants.

The kiwi is an emblematic fruit in the region. We will introduce you to a very famous farmer whose family has been cropping the fruit for generations. He will welcome you to his orchards. You will fill your baskets with the fruits you picked. In the boutique, you will find the best kiwi recipes as well as other fruits, honey and jams.

Culture

Hastingues is a land of slow life and we subscribe to that approach totally. You will be impressed by the beautiful old stones of the castle of Bidache, which you can actually see from the terrace. The abbeys of Arthous and Sorde and its medieval architecture, which welcomes exhibitions, workshops and shows. The churches of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Sauveur are also definitely worth a visit.

Nature

The quality of the soil in our region is exceptional. That is why plants that grow here are also exceptional. Many farms are to be visited around Hastingues where you can participate in workshops such as the discovery of wild medicinal plants, their virtues, and their use in cooking, DIY natural cosmetics and soaps and thus discover fun and common sense ecological practices.

Sport & Wellness

The Landes region is a rendez vous of nature lovers and outdoor sports. L’Ermitage is the starting point for magnificent walks. (Norwegian hiking sticks are at your disposal).

The river bank lends itself to a biking getaway. Bikes and horses can be easily rented.
A selection of massages à la carte are available to you.

Nearby l’Ermitage, the Sames lake is a natural water park offering a variety of activities : slides, water ski lift, wake and slackline in particular, as well as the Guiche lake that offers swimming and sliding. A few kilometers away, you can also enjoy the golf courses and the beaches of the Bask coast and Landes and go surfing.
We will provide you with the best contacts prior to your arrival.

You can also visit the thermal baths of Salies de Béarn. Its architecture has been preserved since the XIV century. Salies de Béarn salt is naturally rich in trace elements such as magnesium, calcium and iron. Their water of exceptional quality is called “mother liquors”.
